It returns an AI visibility score out of 100, mention counts, a per-platform breakdown, top cited pages, top topics and a competitor comparison, across ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews and AI Mode. Its limit is the limit of every instant test: it photographs one moment. Engine answers vary between sessions, so a score from Tuesday is not comparable to a score from the following Thursday, and no trend can be read from either.

Ahrefs also offers a no-signup checker, showing a preview capped at the top five results per section: total AI mentions, per-platform breakdown, top five topics and top five cited domains. What a free check can and cannot tell you

A free checker answers one question well: does my name appear anywhere in AI answers about my category. If the answer is no, you have learned something worth acting on.

It answers none of the following. Is my citation stable or accidental. Which competitors take my place, and on exactly which queries. Is my position improving or eroding. And most importantly: is any of this producing revenue. Those require repeated measurement over time, which no instant test provides by construction.
