How to check what Perplexity and Gemini say about your brand
Most brands only check ChatGPT, but Perplexity and Gemini have their own citation habits that can look completely different.

Plenty of brands test their visibility on ChatGPT and stop there. That's a mistake. Perplexity and Gemini don't pull from the same sources or build their answers the same way, so a brand that gets cited well on one can be completely absent from the other.
Each engine has its own audience. Perplexity attracts users looking for a sourced answer before a considered purchase, while Gemini sits directly inside Google search and reaches a far larger volume of users, often without them even realizing they're reading an AI-generated answer. Ignoring either one means ignoring a real slice of your potential customers. A brand your marketing team only watches on ChatGPT can turn out to be entirely absent from Gemini's answers, which reach a much wider audience day to day.
Perplexity: an engine that cites its sources
Perplexity has a feature that works in your favor: it almost always shows the sources behind its answer as numbered links. Ask a category question about your market, check the source list under the answer, and you'll immediately see which sites, yours, your competitors', comparison sites, media outlets, are feeding the conversation around your product category. It's the fastest way to tell whether your product page, your blog content, or a third party talking about you is part of what Perplexity considers reliable enough to cite.
Gemini: the voice of Google search
Gemini works differently. It's woven into the Google ecosystem, whether through the dedicated app or through AI Overviews that appear right inside search results. It's less consistent about showing its sources openly, which makes manual testing a bit less direct, but the principle stays the same: ask the question a customer would actually ask, and see who gets mentioned. In practice, ranking well on Google with clean product data counts double here. It feeds both your regular search visibility and the material Gemini can draw on for its answer.
- Open a session on perplexity.ai and ask a category question relevant to your market.
- Check the sources cited at the bottom of the answer and see whether your store is among them.
- Ask the exact same question, worded identically, on Gemini (the app, or Google search with AI Overviews).
- Compare which brands get cited on each engine: are they the same ones, or do the competitors shift depending on the engine?
- Rerun the test with variations (budget, use case, reviews) to see if the ranking changes.
At Tadow, this multi-engine tracking isn't a separate feature you bolt on. From the Growth plan up, you track ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini in one place, alongside Google AI Overviews, instead of juggling tabs and guessing whether your manual tests are telling the same story on every engine. You see at a glance whether a visibility gap is opening up on one particular engine, before it turns into real lost revenue.
